Aquino over-compensates again this time by chewing out PAGASA over Basyang

Writers of the Aquino Family Newsletter frantically plastered stories about how President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III chewed out analysts of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), one of them made the top headline today and highlighted this bit...
"We rely on you to tell us where the problem is or where the potential problem areas are ... this is unacceptable," said Mr. Aquino, who closely monitored the development of the typhoon even as he hosted a dinner with the media on Tuesday night.

Sure, boss. That's a nice touch to follow a night of schmoozing the Media over food, drink, and song to ensure their "cooperation" over your six-year term...
The dinner took place a few hours before Metro Manila was lashed by strong winds brought by Typhoon Basyang which, according to government reports as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, killed 18 people.

A commentor on PinoyExchange.com made a spot-on observation:
kaya pala ha, nagtataray kasi nuhuli nanaman sa pansitan eto si abnoy

Translated: That explains it, he is showing false annoyance considering he was caught fiddling while Rome burned yet again.

Over compensating for what is, in reality, an emergingly evident inability to be on top of much of anything.

  1. I agree that N/A made the complaint for the wrong reasons, and that entirely too much has been made of it by the Yellow media. But I believe that if you remove the complaint from the context of who was making it and why, it's a perfectly valid criticism:

  2. Fair enough. Perhaps he should have just chewed them out behind closed doors.

  3. That would have been the correct way to handle the situation, which anyone with a little bit of management training or experience knows.

  4. I write this before I read yours but we seem to agree on our take on the whole Basyang Blindside incident

  5. @ Ed Lopez, yes it really seems to be more a case of someone taking responsibility for something that one can't ever be 100% on top of.
