Subic to Clark to Tarlac in First World comfort!

I found these photos of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) on a PinoyExchange.com thread and I gotta say, I am impressed.

I also read on Baguio Insider that taking the SCTEX (after taking the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from Manila) cuts travel time to Baguio City down to three hours. That's an improvement of one hour on the four-hour travel time to Baguio that I remember was possible back in the 70's!

One more for the road:

How easy it is for people to lose touch with reality

Do we really experience reality? Think about it. Where does our personal concept of reality really exist? We think that we are in touch with our surroundings through our senses. That is of course true -- up to a point . Without minds that have been honed by years of experience turning nerve and neural signals (generated by our thought processes and our five senses whenever these capture external stimuli; i.e., light, vibration, texture, etc.) into mental constructs, there would be no experience as we, well, experience it now. Indeed, our minds piece together mental models of the world based on how it interprets data , and we "experience" those models as proxies of the real world.

It's safe to say that it is every unlikely that Willie Revillame will ever be a Supreme Court justice. But can we be just as certain with regard to the prospect of Revillame possibly making a bid for a seat in Congress or even the Presidency someday? Among the three branches of the Philippine government, it is only the judiciary that requires specialist expertise in the officers who serve within it. Compare that to the executive and legislative branches where actors, boozers, retards, rapists, has-been comedians, and other losers and misguided mutineers all have a better-than-average shot at a lucrative seat within them.
